Should I Stop Drinking?

I used to wake up almost every morning, get in the shower, and as the water was cleansing my body as I embarked on a new day I would ask myself the question, "should I stop drinking?" Then I would get out of the shower, dry off, and more or less forget about the question until the next morning, when the same thing would happen again. It was literally as if I were living the movie "Groundhog Day". The same thing happening, over and over again. It's funny, I've since heard addiction being defined as: Never getting enough of what you don't want.

Was I addicted to alcohol or an alcoholic? I don't know. All I know is that I finally stopped drinking after 15 years and feel as good as I ever have. I look back now and feel as if those 15 years were some sort of dream. Kind of like I was sleepwalking through life and didn't realize it. Actually, that's exactly what was happening.

My point to this article is that if you ask yourself a question similar to the one posed in this article, you may want to answer it sooner rather than later. I can tell you from experience that the time fly's when you're sleepwalking, and the next thing you know 15 or 20 years have passed, and you're in exactly the same place....or worse.

If your anything like me, drinking was at the center of me having fun. The times that I had fun (or thought I had fun) were when I was drinking. In fact, I didn't like going to places that I couldn't drink if I wanted to. I suppose this should have been a big red flag, but it is what it is. The important thing is that I stopped wasting time and finally began living. In my opinion if you wonder whether you should stop drinking, you more than likely should. Hey what's the worst that can happen?
