| You finally decided that you are going to make the move and get that swimming pool your kids have been begging you for and that you have dreamed of having since you were a child. You have spent hours online looking at pool pictures, reading every home improvement magazine, and have a good idea of what design you would like for your backyard. Now it’s time to get moving and do your research to find local Swimming Pool Contractors to interview to see which one is most qualified to build your dream.A swimming pool is a big, expensive, and permanent investment and therefore you really need to filter out which Swimming Pool Contractors to have bid on you project by asking a lot of questions. The first question that you should ask Swimming Pool Contractors that you are interviewing is how long they have been in business and how many swimming pools have they built. Being in the pool business doesn’t necessarily mean that someone is an expert in pool design and construction. It can mean anything from maintaining and servicing pools to working in a pool retail store selling chemicals, supplies and pool toys. Also, when some Swimming Pool Contractors say that they have, for example, over 40 years of experience, they may mean that that is the total number of years of combined experience of the all the employees that work for that company. That is why you have to ask very specific questions. How long has their company been in business and how many swimming pools have they built out of their current location? Do the Pool Contractors have additional departments in their company that do chemical service, remodel or repair services? Typically, Swimming Pool Contractors that have service routes or retail stores are in it for the long haul and are looking at you as a customer for life. Does the Swimming Pool Contractor have a current list of referrals and references ready the first time that you meet? Good Pool Contractors will not hesitate to provide you with a comprehensive list of customers, both old and new. Talk to several people on their list and ask specific questions. New pool owners are usually thrilled to finally get the pool they have been dreaming about but what about those that have had their pool for years? How was their warranty issues handled? Were they prompt and courteous when called out for a warranty issue? Ask them if they were to build a pool again, would they pick the same pool builder or call in other Swimming Pool Contractors to bid. Also ask them why they picked their pool builder over the other Swimming Pool Contractors that they interviewed. Did they have any issues during construction that seemed out of the ordinary for a large construction project such as building a pool? If so, how were they handled? Basically, the more questions you ask, the better you will be able to make the very important decision on who you should hire to build your pool. |
