All India Pre-Medical Test(AIPMT) is an twelve-monthly entrance exam conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) for admittance to 15% seats in Medical and Dental Colleges run by Union Government, State Governments, Municipal authorities in India(except for Jammu & Kashmir and Andhra Pradesh). The AIPMT both in English as well as Hindi Medium entrance exam has a preliminary exam. Students who clear in this can write the Final examination. The details are:Preliminary Examination:
The Preliminary Examination will include of one paper that contains 200 questions. The questions will be of the objective type. The students will have the option to select a single answer from the four options provided. The paper will include questions on topics like Chemistry, Biology (Zoology & Botany) and Physics. The paper will have duration of 3 hours. Each question will have 4 options. For a correct answer the candidate will get 3 marks and 1 mark will be deducted for an incorrect answer.Final Examination (Only those candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination can appear):The final examination will consist of 2 papers. Each paper will have a time period of 2 hours.
1. Paper I – This paper will consist of questions on Chemistry and Physics.
2. Paper II – This paper will be composed of questions from Botany and Zoology
The final exam will follow the traditional pattern (non-objective). The answers will have to be written in the Test Booklet supplied.
