As you go to write your resume, the first thing that you are probably going to run into are a few experience gaps. These typically occur when you are trying to get your experience listed on your resume and you actually find that there is a massive gap between your last job and today's date. To you this might not mean much, but to a potential employer it can be a serious issue. It makes it appear as if you have no work ethic and don't seem to care about finding a job. Most likely you are in a hurry to get a job, but without some experience to fill that gap, your search will be short lived. The best thing you can do is volunteer work. Find something to do in your community, whether it be helping out at the local recreation center or even volunteering at your local church. If that fails, there is always trash that needs to be picked up.Once you have worked out the experience part, you should move on to your education. You may have anything from a high school diploma to a college degree. It's entirely possible for a college graduate to be out of a job, so don't feel ashamed if this is your situation. You're out and trying to do something about it, and that's what's important. When you've sorted all of those issues, it's time to worry about formatting your resume. This is actually much easier than you would think; because all you need to do is make it look good. The problem here is that many people have a different view of what looks good than others. The objective is to make it look professional, and though that's a problem for some people, we can at least give a few hints that will point you in the right direction.A cover letter is probably the most important part of your resume. You have to paint a good picture of yourself, and in essence it will sum up your resume. Be careful to not be too wordy, because no employer is going to have the time to sit through an extremely wordy resume. There just isn't enough time in a working day. So with that being said, be straight, to the point, and as descriptive as you can be. That sounds confusing, but it will come to you eventually. Effective resume writing can be difficult, but it is the most important thing that you can do in your job search. In the working world, you resume is everything. It is essentially who you are and what you will bring to your employer. Therefore you must create it, and make it count.
