The decor of a bedroom essentially depends on the size of the room, the budget as well as the age and preferences of the user. However, whatever be the criteria, a bedroom can be aesthetically decorated to bring in cheer and warmth. Essentially, a bedroom for a young working couple allows a lot of experimentation and introduction of new concepts. Similarly, a large bedroom allows a lounge with comfortable seating arrangements. Depending on individual preference, the décor can be traditional, contemporary, minimalist to name a few. In a fairly large bedroom, it is a good idea to have wooden seating arrangements with a chaise lounge, complemented by coffee tables and a planter. This lends both warmth as well as aesthetics to the setting. A floor lamp to provide lighting only to this section is a good idea, especially when one of the occupants decides to stay up. Incorporating a wooden entertainment unit here with a display of artefacts and family photographs would blend well into this setting. Large French windows or even a glass wall overlooking a lush green garden would not only let the freshness of outdoors into the room but also provide an enchanting view from the lounge area, spilling over to the sleeping section. The bed here should match the lounge with complementing wall paintings and perhaps crystal bedside lamps. Opting for wooden floor in the lounge area and silk rugs on either side of the bed adds richness to the décor. The bedspreads can be equally exotic, with silk and embroidery to enhance the wood. Opting for split levels where the lounge section and the cot are on different levels would enhance the aesthetics of the room. The elevation cuts monotony as well as aesthetically demarcates the two segments. If the bedroom is used by a younger couple, it is not a bad idea to use low seating as well as large floor cushions in the lounge section. The low seating with wooden flooring can give a very cosy look while adding warmth to the décor. If the décor opted for is traditional, it can limit the choice of wood colour to dark as well as the designs to existing ones. However, a Zen type of décor permits the use of mild colours while contemporary décor allows the use of artefacts designed in multiple ways by artists as well as ones picked from various places and countries. This adds variety and novelty to the décor. If the décor is not confined to any particular theme, it is a good idea to blend in various complementing elements that lend an individuality as well as creativity to the setting. Thus, a traditional décor can be blended with contemporary elements to display a unique setting. The wardrobes too would need to be designed for easy access from the bed, with the upper shelves built with a pull down design that is easily reachable. A smaller room with a budget constraint can still be decorated to appear exotic and cheerful. A good choice here is metal and wood combination that provides aesthetics while saving cost. Since silk would be expensive, the choice could be cotton for both bedspreads as well as matching curtains. The prints can be floral or mix of bright colours to lend cheer. Alternatively, subtle shades with a small patch of dark shade embroidery would add a rich look. Essentially, the bedspreads in a bedroom set the tone for the décor and hence the fabric used here and the patterns displayed become vital. Use of embellishments, strong tones, and cheerful prints for the bedspread can transform even the simplest of bedrooms to attractive sleeping quarters.
