If you are taking your kids on a vacation to New York, remember that although you may love the museums, they will quickly tire of them. You need to find some hands on activities for them to do.Before you go to New York, get online and check out how many hands on and creative activities there really are; you will be amazed. The following are just a few which you can all do together as a family and have a whole heap of fun.One of the fastest growing creative activities of recent years has been pottery painting. If you think your family would enjoy this; get along to the Painted Pot store where you choose a piece of pottery to then paint yourself. If your child has the aspirations to be a future 'American Idol' or suchlike, a rather expensive but very worthwhile excursion is a day at the Triple Z Music Recording Workshop. They will get the chance to perform in a real recording studio and take home a CD of their efforts. All younger kids love fairy tales, and to make them feel as if they are actually in one, take them to a branch of the famous Metropolitan museum which is known as Cloisters. Everything here is a re-creation of medieval Europe, and the whole family will love it.One of the child friendliest museums you will ever get to visit is the Metropolitan. This isn't a museum targeted purely at kids though, so there is plenty for every one of all ages to enjoy.A lot of stores these days don't just tell toys and games, they have specific areas where kids can try things out and be thoroughly entertained for hours on end. In Times Square you will fins Toys R Us. Another good one to try is FAO Schwartz.A lot of parents for some reason tend to think that because they are on vacation, their kids will stay awake much longer than they would at home. They still need their rest and many a day has been spoilt by a crying, tired child. Make sure they still get a rest time.
