Luxury Watchmakers Hoping For Big Bonuses

Luxury watchmakers are hoping that they can put the year 2009 well behind them, and maybe even go out with an unexpected bang. Although most of us employed people will be lucky to get any "end of the year", "happy holiday" bonuses this year, there are some groups, such as bankers and lawyers that will most likely still get theirs. These bonuses are what fuel purchases of luxury goods such as watches, especially expensive watches.Bonuses allow one to purchase expensive goodies for themselves rather than feel the money should be spent on someone else or put away in a savings account. After all, it's for all your hard work and dedication that you're being rewarded, so you should get a present, right? Sure!Swiss watch brands such as Rolex, Cartier, Breitling, Audemars Piguet and many others are hoping they become the object of someone's affection, aka: bonus money. All watches from these brands are pricey. And if they come with diamonds, as many do, they're known as jewelry watches, and therefore can command an even higher price simply for that reason. The sales numbers due to watches bought at the last minute because of big bonuses won't be known for awhile. However, the industry may have some insight into the fact that the year won't end as a complete bust. Exports of watches did continue to drop last month, but less than the months preceding November. Overall exports were down just 3% compared to 2008. "New figures out today from the watch industry also show the nearly year-long drop in exports appeared to stabilize last month."If I were to receive a bonus and decided that I would spend my hard-earned money on a new watch, I would be smart about it and maybe even get two watches for the price of one. There are plenty of luxury watches that don't cost a fortune and even come with diamonds. Take Michele watches for example. Hundreds of these were recently given out on the "Ellen" show to everyone in her audience. Ellen had one on, and it looked hot! All white watch with diamonds around the bezel; looks like a million bucks, but costs way less. Audience members were given their choice of all black, all white or all pink ones. Nice!Michele watches are very stylish and fun, and made especially with women in mind. You can find almost any Michele watch ranging from a few hundred to a couple of thousand of dollars. Now, if you prefer something more traditional, along the lines of say, Cartier watches, don't despair, they are not beyond your reach. Looking for a watch sale that advertises a "Cartier discount" can get you the real deal for much less than you ever imagined. It can be as simple as the fact that a certain retailer, on or off line, purchased too many, and is looking to unload them at a discounted price rather than make nothing. As a note of caution, always make sure that whoever you purchase your watch from is a legitimate dealer. Also know that you don't have to buy a used watch (although there is nothing wrong with this) to get a good deal. Brand new, certified, luxury timepieces can also be discount watches. If you are lucky enough to get a bonus this year, make sure to spend it wisely.
