Enema refers to a process by which a liquid is forced by low pressure into the rectum, through the anus, in order to induce bowel movement or to wash the colon. Users of enema claim that the process cleans the colon and helps beneficial bacteria to develop. In any case, enema has been used since very ancient times as a treatment for all kinds of ailments (e.g. constipation, poisoning, acute headache, flu, meningitis, parasite infestations, measles...etc.). Today, while the basics have remained the same, enema is carried out more hygienically using specialized equipment and professional help.Enemas are probably the cheapest colon cleansing method. This is because there is no involvement of a professional. Enemas are simple and therefore can be self-administered. The equipment also is cheap and re-useable (an enema bag costs around $10 and is widely available in pharmacies). Water can be used for the enema, although some herbal solutions give better results. The mode of application of an enema is as follows: 1. Apply a small amount of lubricant to the entrance of the anus.
2. Lie down on your back.
3. Gently insert the enema tube.
4. Allow the solution to penetrate the rectum.
5. Retain the solution for 5-10 minutes.
6. If possible, undertake a massage of the abdomen.
7. Pass out the fluid in the toilet.
8. Repeat the process two or three times as appropriate. For some people it may be wise to wait for half an hour before repeating the process as the colon may freeze up and not allow water up it.Colon cleansing is a great way to get rid of toxins within your body.
