| Simple science projects can be loads of fun and they stand just as much chance of winning a science fair as a more involved and complex project. The important thing to remember is that the judges want to see that you have learned something from your project, and are able to clearly explain what you did and what you found out.You also need to display your project in an eye catching way. There are many simple science projects that can be done with materials around the house, such as with food, plants, insects, water, etc. One such project is to see which kind of plant food makes plants grow faster, or if they in fact grow faster without plant food. You can do this by getting a few different brands of plant food, nine peat cups, some seeds, potting soil and water. Fill all the cups with potting soil and plant seeds in each one, then add one brand to three of the cups. Fill the other brand to the next three cups and leave the last three cups with no plant food in them.Label the cups so you know which plant food, or lack of plant food, is in each one. Then place all nine peat cups on a sunny window sill and water them every other day, adding more to the six cups after one week and again after two weeks.
