Frown Less

We can't put a price on a smile. Can we? Honestly, probably not. It doesn't cost much to smile, and we know it. Quite frankly, a smile could be the fork to lift many overburden spirits. It could be that transporter of sun rays in a dark and somber place or a trapper of clear and positive attitudes. Perhaps it's just the exhausting effort that some of us have to make that portrays smiling as something ridiculously overwhelming. Most people walk around looking down with a frown unable to perceive their daily fortunes. They mope from dawn to dusk forgetting there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Take a moment to reflect, power down your engines, and let your mind surf through the events responsible for your gloomy and most disparaging state of isolation. Dare to look deep inside and there under the roots of that tree of disappointments you will find a smile. Whether you want to admit it or not, there is always something to smile about. Keep in mind that if you made it out of your bed this morning and you find yourself walking to your job, taking the train to school or hopping on a bus to granny's house, then chances are you are better than the next person. Yes, the one who is bed ridden and couldn't make it out of his bed. Well, how about the ones who have no jobs, no Grandmas or friends to visit?Still, you say, "well, I have too much to worry and don't exactly feel like smiling. What about all these cumbersome problems I got? What of all the financial burdens, relationships, health, family, and physical ailments I got? Who is going to help me with that?" I must say that, unfortunately, through our own doing we get into very sticky situations. If you found a way in, then there must be a way out. The key is not to get desperate and to stay in control. You must stay focus and remember your goals. Life without a struggle would be tedious and unrewarding. Your cross, my friend, is not heavier than anybody else's. You just got to bear it. You have to ride the storm. If you must, then ask for divine intervention. He will not let you go under.Take off your blindfold and look around. Try to find a new purpose in your life. Life is not all about riches and fame, new cars, new houses, expensive restaurants, jewelry or new clothes. Find a reason to smile everyday, even if you secretly smile to yourself. I'll bet that when you do smile; you'll feel better. Don't be surprised if some people cross your way questioning "the smirk on your face".Most, if not all, of those you encounter will be unable to accept it as an elated display of your body searching its spirit. They will refuse to let you go unless you succumb to their misery and unhappiness. Be on guard for they will attempt to transmute your moods at whatever cost. It's hard to corral your thoughts and realize that the possibilities of time-travel are greatly unreal. Notwithstanding, many of us can easily recall how years ago people led simpler lives and they seemed happier. Millions of people today can afford the luxuries that millions couldn't years ago. Yet, that doesn't seem to be enough. Their faces depict disappointments and unhappiness signaling that it's never enough, and it will never be enough as long as we are partnering with jealousy and our mentalities stay bonded to the insensitive and material matters of this world.© Daniell Fedrón March 15, 2008Daniell Fedrón is not your modern day mystic yet he enjoys the subject of spirituality, and his self published book, GOD SENDS...
