What Belongs in Your Blog

There are some common things that should, and should not be included in a blog. Among the things that should be included is content, more content and even more content. The more pages that are in the blog, the more traffic it will generate. It really is that simple. It must be emphasized that the quality of the content is of primary concern though. Likewise, there are some things that should also be avoided.Avoid using a lot of cute graphics or animated gifs. While these may be cute to most children and some adults, they will distract from the real content of the site. The unnecessary use of too many graphics also slows up the time it takes to load the pages. Not everybody has broadband connections yet. A large number of graphics will cause the page to load slower and ultimately, result in a loss of readers and potential members and customers. While picture blogs are out there, they are not overly popular except to other photography enthusiasts. Pictures, like any graphics can hamper the effectiveness of the blog and should be avoided unless the subject matter at hand is the photography. Even then, it is a good idea to supply links to the photographs, and provide nothing more than thumbnails or descriptions on the content pages in order to increase the user friendly aspect of the blog.People want instant gratification! Period! Most people are not patient enough to wait around while numerous pictures that they may or may not enjoy are loaded onto a page they may or may not want to read. They will leave. The owner of the blog has just lost not only a potential member, but a potential customer as well.It would be easy enough for someone to post ten thousand pages of words directly from the dictionary. While this would offer a number of keywords, and likely generate a lot of unique hits, it will not get many people to return to the blog. It will not encourage people to participate, and most importantly, it will not generate any sales for the blog. The content should include something that the author is very passionate about. Whether the author's views are pro or con, their passion alone will often get other people to participate. It can safely be said that starting the blog will be a full time job in itself. If an author can successfully generate four or five substantive postings a day, of sufficient interest to generate a response from the readers, that is a very good day. Some authors claim to be able to post ten or even more posts every day. While this is possible, it is still all important to remember that the content of the blog is the main factor in whether it succeeds or fails. It is also why it is important not just to rattle off, repeat or otherwise make pointless postings.Make all of the postings count for something. It should be kept in mind that every post has the potential to attract new readers. That same post however, can just as easily be used to keep people from joining or even coming back to the site. While it is not often that someone will leave a post only because they disagree, if the posts they see are convoluted, or otherwise not worthwhile, they will not have any reason to return. This is perhaps the greatest reason the person new to blogging should limit themselves to one blog opening at a time. While it may be possible to create two, three or even more blogs at the same time, how much of the content will be repeated? How many times can the same package be sold to the same people? If the sites are the same, the search engine results will be the same also. Trying anything like this will seriously hamper the author's credibility and make it more difficult to create a successful blog rather than making it easier.Ward Tipton has been writing SEO and SEM materials for over three years now and has recently become involved in providing new and unmatched materials by an actual Work Team comprised of professional writers, technicians, engineers, editors, Internet Marketers and a gathering of talent heretofore unmatched in the world of Internet Marketing.
