Tip #1 PrioritizePrioritize your life. What do you feel is really important? If you de-clutter your life, you will have more time and sanity to deal with the things that really matter. Take the extra time to throw away the junk mail, clean up your desk, take care of the bills so that you have more time and sanity to play with your kids, engage in a hobby or just relax.Tip #2--Come Up With A Plan/SystemFigure out a system to organize yourself in several areas. Maybe you need a system for bills when they come in so that you can keep track of when they are due and make sure they are paid on time, you might need to get a filing system together for some paperwork or perhaps organizing notes and things into a binder. Take a look at some of the messy areas in your life and come up with a plan for dealing with that stuff.Tip #3 Avoid ProcrastinationDon't put off until tomorrow what you could do today. People love to procrastinate yet they hate procrastinating! What's with that? If you don't want to procrastinate, then stop doing it. I guarantee if you just "do it" you will be so much happier than putting off the inevitable. Get into the habit of taking care of things right away.Tip #4 Don't Overwhelm YourselfYOu won't be able to get your whole life organized in one big swoop. Do little pieces at a time and eventually as you keep adding little pieces, you will eventually have your life less cluttered and have more room for family, friends and fun.Tip #5 Get Rid Of StuffIf there are things you don't have or need, get rid of it. If you have stuff that you haven't looked at in a year, you can probably live without it. Old stuff just holds you back. It is very freeing to get rid of things. If the stuff has value, you might give it away or sell it, but if it doesn't, THROW it away!Tip #6 Focus/Avoid DistractionsWhen you are cleaning and organizing your stuff, stay away from things that will sidetrack you...if the phone rings, let them leave a message, don't watch TV or get distracted by a husband and kids. Set aside a certain amount of time (maybe 30 minutes) where you are committed to spending that time on the task at hand. It will be time well-spent.Tip #7 Be Kind To YourselfIf you don't get everything done, don't beat yourself up. If you do the best you can and accomplish some of what you needed to, then you can continue to work on things as time goes on. Organizing is a work-in-progress. It's sort of like exercising, you need to keep working on it or you will start accumulating piles (just like the piles that accumulate on your hips if you stop working on it). Work at it everyday and it will bring great rewards because as your new organizational skills turn into good habits, you will be much more satisfied with your life. For more tips and tools for de-cluttering your life, I'm inviting you tovisit http://www.de-clutteru.com - from Heidi Schaden
