DHT is a hormone that is known to cause hair loss in men. While this type of hair loss is hormonal and not temporary, it can still be devastating to most men. The good news is that treatments are available.DHT is a form of testosterone and performs several important functions. Although it does many positive things, there can be problems. For example, aggression and hair loss can be caused when the prostate gland malfunctions and forms too much DHT.So the question is "How does it actually cause hair loss?" Although the reason is unknown, DHT attacks men's hair follicles. Because of this, hair follicles shrink thus weakling existing hair. Since the hair follicles become too small, hair will eventually fall out and not be replaced, leaving large bald patches in its place. Like most medical problems that are a result of low hormone levels, the issue can be resolved by increasing the levels of DHT in the body. There have been several tests done that attempts to increase DHT levels. However, unfortunately all of them have failed. When most people hear this they think nothing can be done. But this isn't true. While there isn't exactly a cure, there are treatments available.Hair replacement or restoration is one treatment option. It's best to consult several different surgeons first. It's also recommended that you get referrals from friends or colleagues. Choosing a surgeon from the yellow pages or online is never a good idea. DHT can also be replenished by using certain shampoos or solutions. Studies have shown that these products have slowed hair loss. Some people have claimed that they can even stop hair loss entirely. Does this sound too good to be true? Yes it is a big statement. This is why you should never take someone else's word for it. You should decide for yourself.
