Andrea is stuck. Her parents raised her to believe that she has no control over her life and she shouldn’t even try. She has been looking for the perfect job for the past 18 months or so, and is frustrated that the “unseen, Santa Clause-like force” that her parents raised her to believe in has not brought her what she wants. She doesn’t know what to do.What Andrea doesn’t realize is that her parents belief system does not work for her. She needs to shift her beliefs to work for her, not against her. Like many people, she may not even realize that this is what’s holding her back.If she were to take control over her life, she would see that she has the power to make anything happen. She has the power to create whatever it is she wants in life. The power of living her dreams rests inside her decision to make it happen. Now, this is not to say that she should leave any and all spiritual work out of her life-building, it means, if she chooses, she could use it as one part of the multi-faceted process. Having access to spiritual work can be fulfilling, and it comes in many forms. Other spiritual modalities include art, music, writing and anything else that touches your soul.If Andrea were to map out a plan for change, it would look like this:1. Figure out what part of her belief system is not working for her.2. Decide what she would like to believe instead.3. Create an affirmation that would support the new belief.4. Write that new belief down 15 times a day.5. Practice with her self-talk until that belief is automatic. As long as Andrea works on this plan every day, she will become successful at creating a new life. She will get what she wants, without waiting for something or someone else to do it for her.
