When was the last time you shrugged at someone for smoking because it's unhealthy? It's time to do the same to people who are obese. Obesity is killing more people than you can imagine. Obesity is almost second to smoking(in causing deaths) and it's becoming a global epidemic.Almost every two out of three Americans are either obese or overweight. Obesity is caused by various factors like over eating, lack of exercise and most importantly an inactive lifestyle. Becoming one of the many Americans is simple, just do what they do, eat like there's no tomorrow. So what can you do to combat Obesity? What Is Obesity?Obesity is the condition of an individual's weight being 30% or more above what is considered normal as defined by a standard-accepted height/weight chart. Obesity is almost becoming an epidemic in developed countries. In America, almost every two out of three Americans are overweight or obese and one of out of every eight deaths in America is caused by an illness directly related to overweight and obesity. What Causes Obesity & How to Prevent it?Obesity is caused by various factors, I'll list the down the more prominent ones-genes,
-eating disorders
-Over eating
-Lack of exercise
-Lifestyle
I'll spend some time to explain why Over Eating and Lack of Exercise are bolded.Stop skipping breakfast if you don't want to be fat!Lifestyle:This could possibly be the most important factor that'll decide whether you'll remain as a healthy and fit person or someone who is on the verge of extinction. Losing weight is nothing compared to a lifestyle change, there are countless diet pills and weight loss formulas that work, but can you maintain a healthy lifestyle? Are you able to maintain an active lifestyle accompanied by less fast food, less sweets, less soft drinks, and less junk food? What to do?-During the next 30 days, pick one Negative habit you have, and replace it with a Good one.
-Get a Friend's support
-Tell your Friends that what you are doing
-Be Prepared for Disappointment but it shall not be an Excuse.
-For every recurrence of a Negative habit, slap (not pet) yourself on the face once! Yes, DO IT!Overeating:Our body requires a certain amount of energy to survive; whatever that is taken in excess is converted to fats and stored in our body for future use.The more you over eat:-More fats are stored.
-To store more of these fats, more fat cells are created,
-Once these fat cells are created, THEY CAN'T BE REMOVED!
This means you'll be much more prone to becoming obese! Losing weight will also be much more difficult for you.Are Multivitamins Important?Lack of Exercise:Exercise is the best way to keep your body active and to burn all the additional energy that we're taking in. There are countless health benefits for exercising and I'm not going to waste my time telling you what they are.Exercises:-Do not limit yourself to just jogging or swimming or cycling.
-Try something you always wanted to try, go for dance classes or try out ice-skating?
-Participate in activities that keep you active, you're on your first step to preventing obesity.
In short, having an active lifestyle is your best cure to obesity.ConclusionObesity is a life threatening and there is no easy solution to it. It requires discipline and motivation. I can tell you countless ways on how to lose weight and whatsoever, but is it going to help? I can't help you unless you're willing to help yourself. When you finally decide to put your heart into it, you'll realize that humans are a pretty helpful race.Darcy is currently studying and researching into Sports and Exercise Sciences.
