Long reviled for serving up a blend of factory-farmed, additive ridden dead cattle, doused with hydrogenated fat and dripping with salt, additives, white sugar and other dangerous foodstuffs, this global chain, with a sad history of exploiting workers, farmers and consumers alike is facing precararious times as consumers wake up to the fact that this poisonous gruel masquerading as food is no longer fit to feed to dogs, let alone their children.Whilst McD's have fought back, with supposedly 'healthy' options a recent WHICH investigation uncovered:"of the food sold by the "big four" - McDonald's, Burger King, KFC and Pizza Hut - (WHICH) found that 17 of 20 products were high in salt or saturated fat or both. Of those, five out of eight of the salads used as "evidence" of their embrace of healthy eating had "high" salt or fat content."also proving that Ronnie lies they found that although McDonald's website claims that a Big Mac and medium fries had 786 calories analysis showed that it, in fact, had a whopping 900. In what must be further bad news for Ronnie, the kids are waking up fast to the perils of the evil clown, in the Teen Vision survey carried out last month by Coutts UK, only one per cent of 13 to 15 year olds said that a McDonald's is their favourite meal - a six per cent slide in only a year. McDonalds announced in 2002 that it was due to be forced to close 175 restaurants (sic) worldwide, so these new UK closures seem to be somewhere along the path of a downward spiral. Now is not the time for complacency however, as sales rose by 5.7% globally and 9.7% in the US, who are happilty muching away on their freedom fries oblivious to the coming downfall of that over-indulgent, exploitative and unsustainable brand of capitalism US style. So it's cheering to hear the story of how McDonalds got kicked out of Newcastle by ten fat clowns and a bunch of activists. Arriving with ex-It's a Knock Out presenter Stuart Hall (give 'im a break, he needs the work), camera men proceeded to set up a shoot for a new McD's advert.Unfortunately for them local activists from 'Fat Clowns And Rubbish Food' (FCARF) had been tipped off in advance and managed to disrupt the entire days filming ... g'wan the geordies (full story here)the void says keep the pressure up on the evil corporate clowns, the weekly Anti Mcdonalds demo in London is every Thursday from 5.30pm till 7pm outside Mcdonalds Shaftesbury Avenue, world anti-mcdonalds day is October 16th and meanwhile McSpotlight have got plenty of ideas and reading materials about our favourite destroyers of the planet.
