| Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is fast becoming the way for the world to communicate and the VoIP market jungle is full of baby companies wanting your business. According to a new report from eMarketer, the popularity of VoIP telephony services will continue to see significant growth for at least the next four years.VoIP is the technology used to transmit audio as data over the internet to either a computer or to a landline phone. Also, one high speed internet connection can serve for multiple VoIP telephone lines, thus allowing the conference calling feature to be useful. Depending on the company you choose you may able to combine your internet service with your phone service into one lower monthly bill. All supplier of VoIP must provide a reliable 911 service based on a FCC ruling. As companies compete for business, rates and serviced options continue to improve.You need three things in order to use VoIP: 1. a high-speed Internet connection (either cable or DSL) 2. To make a VoIP telephone call, the user has to have two things, a high-speed Internet connection (256kbs or higher) and a broadband telephone adapter. In most situations, it is best to have the router built into the broadband phone adaptor, so that if the user is making a telephone call and on the computer at the same time, the router knows to give most of the bandwidth to the phone call, thereby reducing lag time and the frequency of dropped calls. All phone companies offer conference call facilities using just the telephone, but with VoIP, conversation is just the beginning. The advent of VoIP service providers has caused the cost of long distance calls to be dramatically reduced.
