How to Use Calorie Cycling to Force Fat Off Your Body While Enjoying All Of Your Favorite Foods!

Since we are in the midst of the holidays, many weight loss enthusiasts are tempted, (with good excuse) to steer away from our normal regimented eating patterns. Portions can get out of control, leading one to overindulge in our favorite forbidden "fantasy" foods that we have been neglected of. Does this temporary "slip-up" have to derail our weight loss progress?

The answer is a resounding NO! Just because you decide to overeat for the holidays, does not mean that you are a failure, or your weight loss progress has to arrive to a screeching halt. There is an extremely effective method of cycling calories that, when properly applied can greatly accelerate your body's ability to burn fat.

The typical dieting scenario runs something like this; the dieter reduces his/her caloric intake and drops some initial weight, progress stalls, they might panic and reduce calories even further. They may end up squeezing a few more pounds of the scale, but with ever-increasing hunger pangs. Will power eventually gives in to indulgence.

Diets work temporarily due to the sudden drop in calories, however if the caloric deficit is maintained, or even lowered, as it often is, the metabolic rate crashes, and when you revert back to your old eating habits, the pounds pile on at an alarming rate. The remedy is calorie cycling.

Every time you consume calories your metabolic rate increases. When your metabolism is running at a high level, and calories are reduced, weight is lost, but only for a short period of time. Eventually the metabolism lowers, and weight is stalled, this is the time to consume more calories to elevate your metabolic rate for another round of weight loss.

This calorie cycling technique involves alternating high/low caloric intakes to maintain your metabolic rate for consistent, uninterrupted fat loss. Where you begin, depends on where are you are at with your caloric intake. If you have been dieting and are frustrated with your lack of progress from low-calorie dieting, the best thing you can do for your body, and metabolism, is to eat!

If, on the other hand you are just beginning a diet to drop, or have been overeating the last few days, you can trigger almost immediate results by slashing your calories in half. The trick is sharp, sudden, increases and decreases in calories, your body will respond accordingly.

You can begin with 5 days of caloric restriction (calories in half) to trigger fast fat loss, followed by 2 days of overeating, to elevate your metabolism for another round of reduced calories, and continued fat burning. This is program that suits individuals well for the weekends or holidays.

But you can apply this calorie cycling technique for any occasion year-round that involves socializing and lots of food! Mind you, this method is extreme and causes extreme weight loss, and therefore should not be utilized for long periods of time (3-6 months). After significant progress is made, go back to a more normal calorie eating schedule.

Long term results are maintained with proper diet that consists of healthy foods and regular exercise, But for jump starting weight loss, calorie cycling is king because you do not deprive yourself for extended periods of time, and you get to enjoy the holiday TREATS!
