I have always wanted to start my own business for as long as I can remember. I started off like most people in a career that I thought I'd enjoy doing for the long term. I was excited to be part of the corporate world. It was cool being able to work right downtown. However, after a few years, I realized that it wasn't the ideal job I had hoped it would be. Soon I was slammed with multiple projects, tight deadlines, and the hour commute in rush hour traffic to and from work was not helping matters.
I began to feel stressed out, burned out, and frustrated with my work life. I had to escape and so I did after almost 5 years, I resigned with no back-up plan. I don't recommend ever quitting a job without something to fall back on. Fortunately for me, I was able to fall back on freelance work. Yet, I still wanted a business that was fun again. Freelance work only reminded me of what I had left behind.
The Solution to the Easy Small Business
The great thing about starting a small business is that you can do so while you are still a full-time employee. This takes a lot of the pressure off and lets you have fun starting it up rather than stressing over whether or not it will succeed. Keep in mind that statistics say most new businesses fail within 5 years. This is why it is critical to find a business opportunity that isn't too high a risk right off the bat.
Many people consider purchasing a franchise. However, they can cost in the hundreds of thousands of dollars to start. Low end franchises can start at $1,000 or more but then there is overhead involved such as paying employees, office space rental, utilities, etc.
A better solution that is relatively low-risk, low cost, yet has great earning potential is a network marketing business. Similar to a franchise, you start off with an instant product line that many people may already be familiar with. You market these products and are essentially a distributor. What makes network marketing special is that over time, you build up your own team of distributors. As you help your team grow, you create long-term residual income which equates to time freedom!
Unlike other small businesses out there, the owners usually have to tend to their business daily. The business cannot function without their presence. In network marketing, you can take time off whenever you want and your business will keep going even if you are vacationing halfway around the world. See the difference?
You should work on your business, not in it! This is why I enjoy network marketing. It was a perfect fit for me as I transitioned out of freelance work.
