How to Lose Weight

I have a closet full of clothes and most of them didn't fit. I had gradually gained about 20 pounds that caused me to buy new clothes in a larger size but I couldn't throw the old ones away. I knew that what I really wanted was to drop the extra weight, not buy clothes for a fatter person.

I had a good diet plan. I got it from a nutritionist. She said if I followed it I would be on a balanced diet with plenty of good vitamins and would feel better most of the time.

But I couldn't stick to it.

Until...

After all the frustration of trying to lose weight it is fantastic to learn there is a way for us to make our favorite diet work-just as promised in the ad, and also a way to make our weight loss stick so we will not regain what we have lost.

I am not a nutritionist so I am not giving diet advice. All I know about a good diet is that it should be balanced. My nutritionist friend told me so. And I've found that foods that are low on the glycemic index give me lasting energy and don't generate more hunger (According to The Carbohydrate Addicts Diet insulin created by the body when we eat high carbs causes us to be hungrier.)

What happened that made it possible for me to lose the weight I wanted off was to begin doing daily affirmations.

I was amazed!

It was like... Suddenly I had will power!

No... not really like that.

It was like... "This is so easy. Why haven't I done this before?"

I started one evening. I sat down and wrote out some affirmations about weight loss and then I put on some soft music for the background and I read ten repetitions of the affirmations aloud to myself.

The next morning I was searching through my files and my bookcase for the diet information I needed.

I started the diet once again and once again just hoping I could stick to it this time. It just worked! Instead of fighting my self about choosing good foods and appropriate serving sizes I found it effortless to do the right thing. In fact it was pure pleasure knowing I was winning and it was easy.

Here are the affirmations I use and I found that after three weeks I truly changed my habits.

I now weigh ____and it pleases me.
I love being slim and lithe.
I am happy that I have a ___ inch waist.
Proteins and greens are what really taste good to me.
I'm proud of myself for doing what it takes to reach my ideal weight.
I'm so good to myself. I eat only foods advised by my diet plan.
I delight in the flavors of foods that are good for me.
I am satisfied with serving sized that will maintain my weight of ___.
I now regularly get plenty of exercise.
I love to exercise.
It's so easy to lose weight and love doing it.
I am so happy that all my excess fat is disappearing.

After all the trying, and all the crying, and all the chewing myself out for being weak, and not being able to stay on the diet I'm 20 pounds lighter and I just needed to tell someone about it.

I'm proud of myself!
