One of the problems I have had with the alternatives to Adobe software is that I found it impossible to insert links directly in your pdf files to link to a web site url using your own specified link text. I was eventually able to overcome this problem. Google mail has a nifty feature where it allows you to upload documents for example Word. You then can make your changes and insert your links and save the file as pdf. This is all completely free.
