How is it in wonderful matrimony
That familiarity becomes deadly?
Houses get valued more than spouses?
Money gets talked about more than honey?
Bills overwhelm and grip the helm?
Disgruntlement replaces delight?
Love, joy, and peace go out of sight?
Countless wrongs outnumber what's right?
People stop cuddling and prefer to fight?
Your beloved stays out past midnight?
Why can't adulterers be content and complete?
Why is it we don't cooperate, but instead compete?
The bottle befriends you more than your bride?
We don't apologize because of our pride?
Domestic abuse we deny and don't refuse?
We'd rather win at sports and our spouse lose?
Men prefer not to chat, but want to watch news?
We lie about our marital problems and make excuse?
Seek counseling only before we are nearly divorcing?
Forget to be gentle and resort to aggressively forcing?
We rebelliously resist authority until we're contorting?
Argue to be right rather than seek to be relational?
Treat our friends more respectfully than our spouse?
Speak to coworkers kindly, but to hubby like a louse?
More diligently attend to our work than our marriage?
Roll the bowling ball more than the baby carriage?
Breed bitterness and contempt, more than tenderness?
Prefer to criticize rather than forget and offer forgiveness?
Accentuate the negatives, rather than celebrate the positives?
Hurt, belittle, and destroy rather than nurture and build up?
Why is it we just cannot seem to bite our tongue and shut up?
Why do we have a boiling point where we break and get fed up?
Why can't our love endure, last a lifetime, and be sublime?
Why is it we are impatient and impetuous all of the time?
These questions continually plague my heart and mind.
Dear God come quickly to transform this marriage of mine.
Also help all of the other married couples to be loving and kind.
