Many people wish they could erase the difficult times or mistakes they have made in their lives. However, all experiences, bad and good are what make you who you are. Erasing any of your experiences would prevent you from learning what you need to learn.Mistakes are opportunities to bring forth your innate wisdom. Your innate wisdom is only activated when it is called upon by circumstances. The key to life success is learning from your experiences and looking to the future. The future is what is yet in your power. No one hits the bull's eye of success every time when one aims to complete a goal.Hugh White, Philosopher, 1700's stated, "When you make a mistake, don't look back at it long. Take the reason of the thing into your mind and then look forward."Take time to look at and to learn from your experiences without dwelling on them. When you miss the bull's eye, take time, look back only long enough to make note of what led up to the out come and what needs to be done different. Then, go forward. The following are four critical steps when you miss the bull's eye of success.• Take responsibility. Avoid blaming others or anything else. Avoid hiding or pretending the mistake is of no consequence.
• Accept consequences. Realize others might be annoyed or upset with you. Be honest about the mistake and set-forth a plan to correct it.
• Make things right. Fix it, clean it up, do what it takes to correct the fall out.
• Forgive yourself and others involved. Forgiving and letting go of the past is critical. Holding on to regret, disappointment, annoyance, anger, guilt or shame compels you to focus on failure, thus, creating more of the same.Success comes from action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they persevere. Quitting is not an option for successful people.Dorothy M. Neddermeyer, PhD, Life Coach - Certified Hypnosis Practitioner, Author and Speaker.
