Hot Hotel Deals and More in Beverly Hills
Beverly Hills, 90210 may remind you of all sorts of things: Rodeo Drive, Bentleys, even a recently-reinterpreted television show on the CW. What likely doesn’t come to mind are hotel deals, which is what all the buzz was about during my recent visit. The Thompson Beverly Hills on the corner of Wilshire and Crescent, brings Stephen Brandman’s chic-and-shiny aesthetic to LA. The hotel is home to the West Coast’s only BondSt sushi outpost, has a rooftop pool with panoramic views, and easy access to the shops on South Beverly. Rooms are sexy, with beds dressed in Frette linens. And the rate? A wallet-friendly $199/per night.Driving slightly north (this is LA, after all), the hotel group behind The Crescent just launched a sister hotel in San Francisco, but to lure travelers back to the original boutique property in the BH Golden Triangle (above), rates are hovering around $150/night with free WiFi and a discount at Sports Club LA. Though the 35-room hotel is sometimes overlooked in favor of luxury heavyweights, this little property has serious pedigree—it was built in the 1920s as a home base for stars of the silver screen. Those who love Philippe Starck will be making their reservations at Sam Nazarian’s new SLS at Beverly Hills, which takes rough-luxe to the next level with illuminated deer heads, all-white marble tables, and fireplaces in public spaces. The Bazaar, the hotel’s restaurant by José Andrés—formerly of El Bulli—is also not to be missed. Through December, suites start $335/night (50% off the rack rate). Yes, the experience is more expensive than a stay some properties nearby, but it’s a great price for entry to the newest Beverly Hills hotspot.
