Falmouth - Cornwall is a lot more than simply a Cornish beach resort. It also plays host to vibrant working docks. The large and active student population gives the town a young and lively atmosphere.Falmouth is situated on the South coast of Cornwall and is most likely most famous for its huge natural harbour, which is quite surprisingly the third deepest harbour of its kind anywhere in the world. Here you will find numerous cruises, regular sailing regattas in summer and a variety of pleasure trips on offer every day.Tourism is one of Falmouth's biggest industries. Its lovely, sandy beaches are known throughout the United Kingdom. Thousands of visitors spend their summer holidays tanning, swimming or simply relaxing on the beaches of Falmouth. Some of the most important beaches include Gyllyngvase Beach, with outstanding views of Pendennis Castle, Swanpool Beach (quite small), Maenporth Beach, which is safe for the whole family and Trefuis Beach which lies conveniently close to the town center. If you are a first time visitor, you can get a lot of information about the town and its environment at Tourist Information, which you will find on the Prince of Wales Pier. They are extremely helpful and also have maps and accommodation information.Except just enjoying the vibe of the town, visitors also love to enjoy the atmosphere of the 17th-century harbour. There are numerous waterfront attractions and you can also visit the boat yards. Ferries leave from the main pier to St. Mawes at regular intervals throughout the day. This is a lovely day trip.A visit to the National Seal Sanctuary is also very interesting. Here they harbour sea lions, otters and seals that have been rescued. You will find them on the South-Western side of Falmouth.Another tourist favourite in Falmouth - Cornwall is of course Pendennis Castle. This is the largest caste in all of Cornwall. It was built during the middle 1500s and the "Discovery Centre" on the premises is also very popular.
