With the strong message of how we are negatively affecting the earth and the environment, many people have taken that message seriously and are doing whatever they can to try to reverse some of those problems. Some of the easy ways to help is to recycle, purchase par30 led or par38 led lights and to buy a more energy efficient car to name a few. Another way this is being done is to vacation at places that also value the environmentally friendly mindset and that are seen as green places to stay. This article will describe three such green resorts or hotels located in southern California. The first place is called Terranea Resort and is located on the Palo Verdes peninsula and offers stunning views of the California coastline. They are committed to be a totally green resort in many ways. All employees are taught to use green initiatives and the guests are encouraged to follow the 3 R's which stands for the following words reduce, reuse and recycle during their stay. They use only green cleaning products at the resort as well as low emission and hybrid vehicles on site as well. Most of their information is shared digitally reducing paper and transportation is offered for guests reducing the need for extra vehicles on the road. They are also working with a nature conservation group to maintain the health of the natural coastline. The second place is known as the Post Ranch Inn and is located on the cliffs of Big Sur, California. It is a short drive to quaint areas of Monterey and Carmel. The resort includes 90 acres of protected space and they are working on maintaining the environment of the animals and plants that live in that area by educating the guests and staff to the conservation efforts. The resort uses solar power as well as recycles water with a special system and keeps water usage down with low flow toilets and showers. Low efficiency lighting in used throughout the resort as well as recycling bins in all guest rooms helps to reduce energy. And only organic cotton is used for all the linens. The third place is called L'Auberge Del Mar Hotel in San Diego and is a member of destination earth which is an environmentally aware hotel management company. They have a full training of staff to use eco friendly practices on a daily basis. One way they try to help with this is to purchasing most of their organic foods made there locally and from local growers. The property has also been equipped with energy saving lighting, heating and cooling and water devices to eliminate waste and save energy. If more people could follow the steps of these places it would help. Try to eliminate your car use by walking or riding your bike to short distances, replace all of your light bulbs with led ones, and try to recycle more than you put in the trash. These are all things that will make a difference.
