Let me first congratulate you if you are a golfer and are currently working on improving your overall health and wellness with a safe and effective basic conditioning program. For those golfers who are not currently exercising, were you aware that the rate of injury for recreational golfers has been recorded as high as sixty percent and even higher with senior players? Did you also know that poor conditioning has been proven to be one of the main culprits?I will not dispute the fact that a basic conditioning program including general flexibility, strengthening and cardiovascular will, to some extent, help golfers and their overall golf performance. The problems that frequently occur with many individuals, not just golfers on these programs are adaptation, loss of interest, and limited results. Then as a result, individuals seek advice from their friends (who are not qualified fitness professionals) for advice, or resort to attempting exercises found in a health/fitness magazines, both of which may end up causing more pain then promise. The key to improving performance on the golf course is improving your bodies overall performance with a golf specific conditioning program. Training the body properly for golf will enhance your ability to unlock the body, move through its entire range of motion and allow you to experience golf the way it was meant to be played. Golf specific fitness will help you identify and overcome physical limitations to properly move your body and take advantage of your current swing. Correcting those physical limitations will also help improve troublesome swing faults that cause many poor shots from being made, and enable you and your swing coach to work on other components of your game. The bottom line is that basic conditioning during the week may help your golf game. Working out during the week specifically for golf will help you win more bets on the weekend!Mark Avens
