Never treat your product as if it were common. Common is a death sentence in today's lethargic economy. Even common table salt should be never be labeled as "common" table salt. To be marketable it has to be set apart from your competition. Sea salt commands more than salt from more common origins. Why? People perceive salt from the sea as more exotic, even if they cannot taste the difference. Do not lie about your product, but definitely do not under sell it. Believe in your product and transfer your belief in it to your customers and you have a winning combination.People will be able to tell that you value your product. The value you place on it will increase what your customers are willing to pay for your product. Psychology 101 dictates that people will want things others perceive as valuable. How many people upon hearing a customer walking out of a store saying that this product or that product was a great deal will pass the opportunity to also get a great deal? Not many. If you sell your products value effectively then your product will increase in value. Common table salt will be uncommon and thus command a higher price or greater customer loyalty.Treat your product accordingly and practice great customer service and you will be successful. You will not have competition worth mentioning. People will perceive their products as inferior giving you and your business the competitive advantage.Quick Note: Value is in perception and perception is transferable.Geno A Bulzomi
