There are a lot of ways to remember your customers, but much of it depends on whether you have only a few or whether you have people coming through your business all day long. If you have a small company that only operates locally, you probably know the names of all of the people that purchase from you on any kind of regular basis. If you are like most business people, though, you are trying to expand your business outside of your local area, maybe even take it global in the future. The Internet has made this global idea much easier, but there is a downside as well. Individuals in companies that have gone global can have trouble keeping track of everything. One of the ways that they can avoid some of this is through software for customer relationship management. If a person does not want to provide his or her email address, it is often not required. Companies that sell over the Internet usually ask for it, but they often provide other ways to order, as well, and many people have a junk email address that they use for ordering things and receiving emails from people that they do not know very well. This stops them from feeling as though their personal space is being violated, but companies still have an email address to put into their CRM system and contact the customer in the event of sales or other issues of interest.
