Humor Has Been My Life's Calling!

In my younger years in school...I've hit a home run or two; I've thrown a touchdown pass or two; I've won a dance contest or two, etc. In my later years, I've sold my artwork at arts and crafts shows and built an award-winning website. But, nothing gives me more satisfaction, than to put a smile on somebody's face, and I've done it countless times over the years!Humor has been a passion of mine for so many years, that I am blessed and thankful to the Lord, that I have been given the talent of being a funny person! (knock on wood) In 2005, I was hospitalized for over three months, and there was no greater joy, than to make some of the other patients laugh, even if was just for a few seconds!"Good humor is one of the best articles of dress in society." William ThakeryOver the last few years, I have received hundreds of emails about my website and work, from people all over the world, and the following two emails are examples of why I have been in the humor business most of my life!"Jer...thanks for sharing your insightful web pages. I've been going through a rough time with my health, and your pages have made me laugh...and made me see the humor in my own situation...thanks...Michele.""Jerry...thanks for a clean and positive website. I have many shut-in or recovering friends, who treasure uplifting humor. Humor is truly the best medicine for our pain...both physical and emotional. I know that I will be able to come to your site for a joke that is clean. You fill an important role for family-friendly laughter...Maria.""Humor can be dangerous to your illness." Steve SultanoffOver the years, people have told me that I should have been a stand-up comedian, but that's not possible because I suffer from stage fright! I've always admired people who can speak in public. So, I'll just have to settle for being a "sit-down" comedian on the computer, and teach myself to write humor. One thing for sure, if you get into the humor business, you will never have trouble making friends. Once you make somebody laugh...you have a friend! "Humor is the shortest distance between two people." Victor BorgeIn school, I was never the class clown. Quite the opposite, as I was just a quiet person trying to get through it all. You see, I'm Hispanic, and at a young age, my family lived in the barrio next to the railroad yards, in one of the poorest parts of town. I didn't speak or write English well, and I spoke both English and Spanish...or Spang-lish!When my family moved out of this dreadful neighborhood, and into a White neighborhood, the kids would tease me because of my terrible Spanish accent, and the way I spoke at the time, etc. The move was good for me, despite the culture shock, because now I could only speak English. Little by little, I learned to speak and write the English language."Laughter is a tranquilizer with no side-effects." Arnold GlasowOne of the purposes of my website, is to encourage people to get more humor into their lives and work. What is one of the best ways to learn? From others, right? Learn from their experiences (good and bad); their wisdom; education; knowledge; and from their skills and talents, etc. You don't have to be a rocket scientist or brain surgeon, to get into the humor business. But, like anything else, it takes time to develop your skills as a humorist. "Rome wasn't built in a day!" How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice; practice; practice...and you, too, can be in the humor business!"Humor is the best shock-absorber in life." UnknownMy advice to anyone wanting to get into the humor business, is to start slowly; use short pieces for better delivery; memorize them if you have to; use fresh material, etc. The best place to start is around the home. How many things do you see around the home that are funny from your kids; your brothers and sisters, etc. You have to be able to capture these incidents you observe on paper.Don't let those humorous incidents get away, and with time and practice...you'll be one of the funniest people people the world has ever known! Go for it...you can do it! Get inspired...get motivated...get going! The positive and healing power of humor cannot be measured. One of the best compliments I can get, is when somebody says, "Jerry...is so-o-o-o-o-o-o-o funny!"ARTICLES PUBLISHED: (200+ websites/includes links); Direct link: http://humordoctormd.homestead.com/articlespublished.html Website name; humordoctormd - Over 150 colorful pages; over 300 graphics http://humordoctormd.homestead.com email; humordoctormd@yahoo.com Copyright; Jerry L.
