      In Group A Liverpool knew they have to win their 2 remaining games to stand any chance of qualifying and they defeated Porto by 4 goals to 1.Fernando Torres got 2 of the goals with the 1st being a header and the 2nd was a very good finish after brushing off his marker. Steven Gerrard scored a penalty with Peter Crouch finishing of the score.Porto's lone reply was a header from Lisandro Lopez.In the other game from this group, Beskitas that has lost all their previous games finally broke their duck by beating Marseilles by 2 goals to 1.The 1st goal was a brilliant freekick Rodrigo Tello and the 2nd was scored late by Bobo after Taye Taiwo's bullet of a shot had beaten goal keeper, Recber Rustu.Porto are still in the driver's seat but Liverpool have to win at Marseille to join them.In Group B Chelsea brought Rosenborg down to earth by thrashing them 4-0 in Norway with Didier Drogba just unplayable. He scored 2 goals and was just too hot to handle.Joe Cole and Alex from a long-range freekick grabbed the other goals. Chelsea have now won the group.In the other game Schalke and Valencia played out a 0-0 draw with the home side, Valencia having their captain David Albelda sent off early in the 1st half.The result means that Valencia cannot now qualify for the knockout stage but they could still qualify for the UEFA cup depending on how the last games of the group pan out.Schalke and Rosenborg meet in the final game in a direct shootout to find out who will join Chelsea from this group.In Group C Greek side Olympiakos went to Lazio and defeated the home side by 2 goals to 1 with goals from Luciano Galletti and ex-Lazio boy Darko Kovacevic getting the winner after Macedonia international Goran Pandev had put the home side in front.In the other game Werder Bremen got the win they were looking for to keep their hopes of qualifying alive by defeating 9-time winners Real Madrid 3-2.Markus Rosenborg put the home side ahead in 4 minutes of the 1st half following typically awful defending by Real Madrid.Robinho equalized for Real Madrid before Boubacar Sangoro scored an absolute peach to put Bremen ahead following great team work and a great finish.Aaron Hunt put Bremen 3 -1 ahead again following poor defending by the way side.Ruud van Nistelrooy pulled 1 back with a sublime chip but to no avail.All teams still have a chance to qualify from this group so it would all be decided in the last games in a fortnight.In Group D Celtic left it late yet again as they always seem to do at home when they scored 2 seconds before the final whistle with a winner from Massimo Donati to beat Shakhtar Donesk 2-1They also scored in injury time in the first half with Jiri Jarolim equalizing Brandi's early opener.They now need only a point at Milan on Tuesday to qualify for the knockout stages.In the other game, AC Milan got a point at Benfica with both sides scoring belters with Andrea Pirlo opening the scoring with a very good low shot that beat goalkeeper Quim from 20 yards.Maxi Pereira managed to better that strike with an absolute blast from the edge of the penalty box that gave Dida, Milan's goalkeeper no chance.AC Milan only need a point to top the group.For more Football news visit http://www.footballclubsblog.com
