Article writing for the web is very different from just about any other kind of writing, except maybe sales letter writing, and I hate to make the correlation, because article writing is not about selling, but about delivering great content. So first of all, what is the purpose of article writing? The purpose of article writing is to create materials, written materials (in the form of articles) that impart information. You see, the article is not designed to sell, nor is it designed to be a showcase of college - level grammar. Your article should have the primary purpose of showing people that you are indeed an expert in your field, and that you know what you are talking about. Your articles should also give people the information they claim to give in the title. You see, article writing is about information, about giving people good information, and in so doing, generate loyalty among people who learn from your articles. So how is it different from most other writing? Article writing should deeply relate to the person, and should be written in the every day vernacular of the people who normally would read your article. So if you are writing to the general public, write your article as you would if you were talking to some average person who may not know all the technical language of your niche. On the other hand, if your audience is a doctor, then you want to communicate in language that is normal for a doctor. When you are article writing, another distinction to make is that you must be writing in such a way that you connect on a personal level with the person reading the article.
