Three Keys to a Happy Life

Happiness is not a feeling that occurs occasionally when a family member or a good friend makes us laugh. Happiness is a necessary ingredient of your day to day living. Without happiness, you are stuck in the 3rd dimension of fear and distrust, jealousy and doubt. There are 3 keys to a happy life and they are easy to learn. Any child can do it.

Key # 1: Include Play in Every Day and Don't Ever Feel Guilty About It

Children learn from their play. They explore their talents and have time to develop them. They imitate the adult world around them and in so doing, build a better understanding of that world. They learn how to negotiate with peers between fairness and their self interests.

These activities build self esteem and self appreciation. These are valuable later in school, and throughout your life in social situations. Without them, you will not succeed in school or in a job.

There is no time limit on play. Don't stop playing with peers, and by yourself. Adult play doesn't always look the same as a child's play, but it is just as much fun and it is just as valuable. It might be a quilting club, or a "'Round the world cooking club." Don't have time? Turn off the TV.

Key # 2: Follow Your Bliss and Don't Ever Feel Guilty About It

We are born with a personal sensing device that will lead us to joy, satisfaction, a sense of achievement and love. This sensing device lets us know when we are moving closer to our heart's desired goal, and when we are moving away from it. Those who attend to this sensor and continually move closer to their heart's desire have the kind of life most would want.

Bill Gates is a good example. He and his high school friend were interested in computers and wrote software after school. Bill's father was a successful lawyer. There was probably some family pressure for him to go to law school since that had already been proven to work for their family. Also, with a father who was a lawyer, Bill would have an easier time getting into a good grad school and so forth. But, Bill was allowed to go to MIT which is not known to prepare students for law school. He was allowed to follow his bliss and not pressured to follow in his father's footsteps.

You too were born with talents and interests. When you follow these the world will open for you and all sorts of wonderful gifts will be given to you. The Hicks call it "swimming downstream."

Key # 3: Challenge All Fearful or Angry or Resentful Thoughts

Negative thinking can take up a lot of time and too much emotional energy. Best advice -- Let it go!

We started using the Sedona Method in my family years ago. You don't challenge negative thinking, but you simply ask your higher mind whether or not you can let it go. You look at it which immediately separates your spiritual self from your Egoic self. Then, you ask whether or not you can let it go.

Almost before you even ask the question, you have already let it go. Anytime you step into the present time, you have already let go of anything connected to the past.

So to summarize:

1. Play more
2. Follow Your Bliss
3. Don't let fear or anger get in your way
