It should be quite obvious by now that in the future our aircraft will fly themselves and cars will drive themselves. It is therefore necessary when designing computer games to plan for such future events and put in the future for the gamer. In other words you will have to design vehicles, which go very fast and maneuver very quickly and can do it by themselves.
If you will consider for a moment the recent DARPA Challenge where a autonomous unmanned ground vehicles drove through the desert avoiding cactuses and desert turtles and drove 300 miles at an average speed of 25 miles an hour to get to the finish line you can understand where this technology is going. First the military will get the finest technology and then as time progresses this technology will be handed down to the private sector.
This will be done for various reasons such as saving 40,000 deaths a year in auto accidents, saving fuel by having efficiently driven cars or prevent serious traffic jams by allowing cars to drive 70 mph literally bumper to bumper without hitting anything. Now you can see the job of the computer game planner and the serious nature for developing and designing realistic computer games for the future.
It is important to carefully study the potential eventualities of certain technologies as they emerge together and to imbed these theories, prototypes and or drawings into your next futuristic computer game. Consider this in 2006.
