Article by Jack Carson

Making a decision on buying a guitar from a music store whether for beginner or any player of any level of ability can be scary for many, since the chances of you knowing what to get is like a blind man leading the blind - there is no sense of direction. This article will help to clear some of the haze away from your eyes and will look at how to approach a music store in the right frame of mind in order to get the best guitar possible, for the least amount of money.
A guitar that is hard to play is not an ideal guitar for anyone especially a beginner whether it be child or adult. While it takes persistence and patience to learn it , if the guitar is comfortable for the player, it is so much easier to make progress.

The Guitar Should Feel Right

Whether a guitar is being purchased for yourself or you are a mom or dad buying a beginner's guitar for your child, it is a waste of good money to spend on a guitar that won't be enjoyed. How the guitar feels in a player's hands is more important than how it appears or looks on its stand or hanging on the wall. So you need to patiently look around the store for something that would suit you..

The Right Guitar for You

Spend time in the store looking at all the guitars until you find an instrument that gets your attention. Ask a store person if you can try out the guitar you have in mind. Get comfortable and relaxed, finding somewhere to sit. Get out your pick if you have one. If you are trying out an electric guitar the store person will gladly plug this into an amp for you. Now it's time to see what your guitar is like.

Ignore Everyone Around You

Do not be put off by other people in the store. If you know some chords to part of a song, some picking patterns you have been working on, go ahead and play them. Do not hesitate to strum louder if you need to. If the reception you get is rather cool from store personal it's time for you to put the guitar back and move on to another store.

Each Guitar is Unique

Remind yourself that every guitar you play will be different in some little way to any other guitar you may try out in a store. Even if two guitars are exactly the same in looks, makes, models and colors they may play and sound completely differently to each other. So don't be surprised if you try out two very appealing and similar looking guitars to find that one sounds great and is comfortable to hold while the other it is very dull in comparison. While in the store checking out guitars it is important to keep a few things in the back of your mind while browsing.

A few Things to Keep in Mind before buying

* Don't Rush- you don't have to buy a guitar that day. It is a good idea to go away from a shop and return another time.

* Stay Calm - don't be pushed around by a store salesperson and forced to make a rash decision.

* Use the Web - before buying, research the internet for information on guitars. Have some questions prepared to ask the music store person.

* Have a friend - take a friend with you to the music shop especially if he/she plays guitar to help you pick the guitar for you.

* Ask Questions - Don't be afraid to ask the music salesperson many questions.

I hope my friend that you are feeling better about approaching and buying a guitar from a music store. There are other ways to purchase guitars too but for today I have focused on trying and buying from a music store. Remember the guitar you own and play must feel right and sound right to you.
