It is undeniable that websites keep on mushrooming everyday. But even though competitors are born everyday, it doesn't mean that you need to consider each and every one of them a threat.
There are two reasons why not all websites are contemplated as rivals. First, each website belongs to a certain classification. If a website in not of the the same nature of business as yours, then it wouldn't be a threat. Second, even if they are all direct competitors, not all websites survive the crazy world of Internet. Having a domain name and a working website are not enough. It is just the start of the never ending process. There are many things to consider and a lot of work involved to be able to have and maintain a successful website.
Web Design
Good first impression is very important on a website. A poorly designed site can make visitors leave within the first minute of stay. It is crucial that a visitor stays at least three minutes to really know that it is all about and what it offers. The layout should be clean no matter what the nature of business is. It should be neat and images should be in proper places. Of course, the photos should be appropriate both in appearance and in size. Web designers should also be careful on choosing the right color. The combinations should be pleasing to the eyes. Graphics and animation, however, should be used in moderation. If there is too much going on in your website, visitors will more likely be irritated, which make them want to leave.
Content
Most users use the Internet for information. A website should contain well-written content content to be able to suffice the need of the visitors. Content with poor grammar is a big turn off especially when you are handling a professional website. Spelling and proper sentence construction are also vital. Keeping your content updated at least once a month is also another challenge. A satisfied visitor will always come back to get more of what you offer.
Search Engine Optimization
Bulk of the work is the continuous process of search engine optimization. A website without SEO is useless. It s considered the maintenance of a website. It is done to capture the audience from search engines. It is believed that 90% of visitors of a successful website comes from major search engines. It is the reason why website owners and search engine optimizers are doing their best to be on the top rank of search engine results.
In the world of Internet, effective websites require a group effort and expertise of web designers, search engine optimizers and content writer. Web design knowledge alone would not work if the website is not search engine friendly. The same as a website could not be search engine friendly if it is poorly written.
