I am not to well sold on this transmission of dodges the 45rfe. This has left me broke down and stranded twice now. They are a very technical transmission to work on or to even have work done on them. They are overpriced for what can go wrong with them. I have found that the dealers can only charge what they seam as fair. When I researched the parts I needed to fix the problems that I was having I found them extremely cheaper than what the dealer could offer. I bought a new pump for this transmission as well as a new torque converter. Both where purchased for under $100 including shipping.

After replacing the parts, the truck ran and shifted fine for a day until it went south again. now the truck wont shift from 1st to 2nd or from reverse to 1st. I do not have the time or desire to work on this transmission no more as to the fact that i have lost all confidence in dodge trucks. Trucks used to be simple to work on and now there are so many possibilities that can go wrong with any part that there is no easy fix for anything anymore. These transmissions are found in numerous vehicles that Dodge and Chrysler are putting out. The only thing good about it now is the lifetime powertrain warranty that they have that goes with every sale. I might buy again only for the warranty though. Then I might be able to drive in peace again.
